Choju GIGA is a emaki (drawing on roll) of Kozan-ji temple in Kyoto made in the twelfth century and recognized as a national treasure of Japan.
This furoshiki is a reproduction. They are caricatures of Buddhist monks who are represented by animals (rabbits, frogs and monkeys). The expressive faces and movements traits are the same techniques used today in manga.
